Back in January I was sipping coffee in my warm cubicle reading about two guys leaving Maine on a cross country journey to raise awareness for hunger and food scarcity concerns. Dan and Myles were doing things a bit differently though, opting for 49cc Honda Ruckus scooters instead of a car or motorbike. I had been following their great work on Facebook and through their website (http://www.acproject.org). Once on my own trip in May, our paths diverged as I headed north for Alaska. Two days ago in Spokane, WA, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting these fellow Ruckers and buying them beer(an Alaskan Mixed 12 if you were wondering). They let me crash for two nights in their hotel room while sharing stories and fixing broken parts. They have a great purpose and a grand vision on their trip which I can appreciate and at times envy their selflessness.
I've purchased some new gear and am shipping much of the heavier unused stuff home. I'm looking forward to exploring Spokane some tomorrow and then campin out for a few nights in the Colville NF. More posts later :)
