I was invited to stay the night with Zac Kurylyk, a Canadian motorcycle journalist and we sat at his kitchen table with maps and Internet comparing photos, routes and stories of riding in Canada. He had a charming family and a home right on the river with two trees perfectly spaced for my hammock. The sound of the government ferry rumbling back and forth in the night was somehow soothing when accompanied by the lapping waves. In the morning after a delicious breakfast prepared by his wife, I said my goodbyes and set out via a modified route south of St. John following ATV trails and gravel roads.

Mike, watched you road is life video on YouTube and just loved it. How are you able to make it across the interstates with just the 50cc Ruckus? Do you run into problems with law enforcement? I have a Ruckus and would love to start venturing out, just wondering how your received on the roads. Also how's the Ruckus motor holding up? Any major repairs? Love your blog. Be safe and enjoy!

Mike, if you're ever passing through Hesperia, CA again look me up maybe we go out and do some rock climbing or something adventurous, or if you ever just need a place for the night I'm sure the wife and I can find you a spot! Good luck and happy motoring.

Is it getting cold yet? Also...what are some of the best meals you've eaten lately (chowder?), and what's on tap these days?

It's actually warming up as I head south but I'm noticing the first leaves of fall turning and apples falling. I haven't had seafood in a while but I'm eating tons of apples and berries picked along the way. Just got some fresh New England roasters coffee for those foggy mornings.

Mike SaundersIn May 2014 I quit my job to ride a Honda Ruckus over 69'000 mi and counting. Wild camping most nights and cooking most of my own meals, I keep the costs low and the landscape changing. Archives
