I stopped my first night in AK at the Deadman Lake CG. Expecting a $ site, they were free and I chose site 4 nestled along the beautiful lake shore. Loons floated across the water and fish broke the surface to snag dinner.
I met my neighbors Robert and Sheila who hail from Helena. They sold their house and are now traveling by RV through AK. He offered me a cider and I gladly accepted it and the warm conversation through the night.
The following day I decided to stay and relax after 10 days of solid riding and no rest. I read the great book Dave gave me and helped Bill ( From PA) and Rob clean 21 pike they caught! We had a feast before the sky opened up and we huddled under the awning.
Fresh blueberries blanketed the taiga floor. I picked many and made blueberry pancakes for bfast.
A bald eagle rooster while I read on the dock.
