My route took me west directly through the Everglades. Crossing the state of Florida on a moped has been interesting.
I actually saw a roadkill panther on Krome Rd and at first thought it was a dead lion. Huge paws and thick fur so I had to look it up.
The west coast of FL is much harder to stay on and access. The islands and marshland of the Gulf allow for many more private beaches and no continuous route (A1A). The amount of traffic on hwy 41 sucks. I spent three hours going from stop light to stop light with lifted diesel trucks billowing black smoke to pass me. I think I'm heading inland tomorrow. Doesn't look like I can get a good look of the water and head north anyway.
