FINISH LINE AT RUSTY REX

Returning to the berth at Rusty Rex garage, La Tortuga shows 42'120 mi on the odometer, that's 40'000 mi exactly from where it started in May 2014. The oil leak from the crankcase is as worse as ever and I limped in with a completely flat tire, happy to be at the home of broken bikes for a while. The decision to continue travel by bicycle next stems from a desire to slow things down even more and immerse myself in the experience further. Now to repair the antique bicycle and hope these legs will carry me down the road.

Wow Mike that's a good deal of many miles on a Ruckus !
The next leg of the travels is going to be a hoot...
PS... We lived near the Water Gap in PA..... Lived in Milford Pa...
That's where we Don & I got married some 34 yrs. ago....

Your journey on the Honda Ruckus is nothing short of amazing Mike. Add to it some amazing photos and reflections in text and you have an epic.

Seems like a book and a movie should be in your future.

Thank you for publishing your Ruckus adventures and I hope you plan to continue with the human powered ride as well. Though you may be even more limited on stuff than when on the scooter. It seems like only a short time ago when you were up here...

Congratulations Mike on yet another midpoint :P Every ending is just halfway to the next beginning in my book, so keep on truckin'!

You'll love the bicycle. I put about 3,000 miles on my road bike last year, and every time I got a flat (which was my only issue ever) I thought "This is so much easier than on a motorcycle!"

That epic!!!! I watched the e-garage video on YouTube and couldn't get enough. I'm glad you have this blog as I wanted to learn more details about the trip. You've inspired me to buy a Honda Ruckus. I love that scooter. Honda should have sponsored you.

Thanks Mike! I'm glad you enjoyed the video - they did a great job. It only captures about three months of my journey and since then there has been much more added. I've made a few videos myself this winter and will try to upload them to a newly designed site soon. I have a letter from Honda congratulating me on my trip but sponsorship could present specific constraints which I'm not ready to encounter. I enjoy my freedom. Have fun riding you Ruckus!
