San Francisco is situated on a peninsula with nearly all of the access bridges designated as Freeway. I pass a weathered white signs reading "NO MOTOR DRIVEN CYCLES". Screw It - Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. The winds are light and traffic steadily chugging around me at 50-60 mph. I struggle to maintain 38mph, my max speed, grateful that winds are low. Large red cable spans stretch high into the sky as I pass below the iconic suspension bridge. I have a brief flashback to my last passage heading north across the bridge on my V-Strom, similarly snapping pictures along the way. The camera and bike may have changed but the sensation and celebration of this milestone remains etched in my mind. I safely pass across, opting for the first exit to Presidio and avoiding the $7 toll. Once over, I stop in the first parking lot and take in the imensity of my accomplishment. I'm finally in San Francisco. Let's see what this city has to offer...
