The Green mountains of the month remind me so much of West Virginia. There is much to do here including mountain biking, snow sports and kayaking. Fertile valleys producing hay and dairy are connected by old two lane roads with villages spaced no more than a days walk apart. These are old villages dating to the 18th century, with many small well maintained homes still standing today.
Many of the roads travel north/south while the forest service access roads are E/W into the hills. Each offered ample free camping and a rolling stream of cool fresh spring water.
