I zoomed out on the GPS to see that the blue waters of the gulf lapped 20 miles west of me. Tires of the hot long stretches of highway I made a detour to the marshy coast. The salty smell of the sea blew inland carrying pelicans and egrets on its currents. 100 foot tall long needle pines swayed in the boggy marshes like tall dandelions against the blue sea an sky beyond. In the distant horizon, oil rigs dotted the water on stilts anchored by concrete into the sea shore. Fiddle crabs darted from sandy holes drilled into the grey grass covered beach.
