I camped out at the Marga Lights Viewing Center in hopes of observing the phenomena. I did not see any lights but was visited by plenty of mice through the night who ranged all over my bike as evidenced by their droppings in the morning. Occasionally a nearby observer at the platform would point at the lights of automobiles on Hwy 67, convinced they were extraterrestrial. I'd poke out of the frosty tent then duck back in and resume my slumber. By morning the temperature was a frigid 22F but I bundled up and set east toward Alpine, the highest incorporated city in Texas at over 4000'. |

Nice you met up with Ara, like to hear more on that when (if...) you get back to DC.

Mike SaundersIn May 2014 I quit my job to ride a Honda Ruckus over 69'000 mi and counting. Wild camping most nights and cooking most of my own meals, I keep the costs low and the landscape changing. Archives
