It was no surprise that by 5am, it was still in the woods save for one restless scooter. On to the Catskills!
With 33'500 MI on the Ruckus, we departed from my folks place after a light breakfast. The spring air was warming quickly as I cruised along the Potomac River and up Rock Creek Park into DC. Runners and cyclists were out exercising in the morning air under the cacophony of fledgeling birds above. After a few hours of rural riding, I found myself crossing into PA. It was a comfortable afternoon of backrooms up to Harrisburg and eventually across the Susquehanna River to follow Powell's Valley into the hills. I found a place to sleep off some PowerLine outside Nesquehoning PA near a recreational lake. The roar of boat engines and shrieks of playing children faded into the mountain night to be taken over by the clank of bottles and loudness of drunken adults.
It was no surprise that by 5am, it was still in the woods save for one restless scooter. On to the Catskills!

Mike SaundersIn May 2014 I quit my job to ride a Honda Ruckus over 69'000 mi and counting. Wild camping most nights and cooking most of my own meals, I keep the costs low and the landscape changing. Archives
