While riding in Skagway on the White Pass, I met Kurt while enjoying a cup of soup in the rare sunshine. He was on his GS visitng his daughter and headed up to hike the Chilkoot Trail. We exchanged information and wound up meeting at Siren's Pub in Port Townsend for lunch. We shared stories and I was introduced to his brother Gary, manager at the famous Palace Hotel. After a lunch of clam chowder and coffee, I was given a tour of the historic hotel. This is said to be the most haunted place on the Olympic Penninsula.
It was an amazing tour and I certainly could see how this place may be haunted. Gary reports to have a stack of reports from guests over the years. Although offered a stay in this haunted old brothel, I politely declined in favor of the Elwah River and Olympic Forest. The road calls loudly.
