The quest for a new rim in La Paz proved unsuccessful. After spending two week there I had to move on. I rode around town with a name of a welder asking little gandmas on the street where he was by last name. Eventually I saw the sparks and knew I had reached the right place. In my broken Spanish, I explained that I needed my wheel and nut welded to my driveshaft...a repair that has no going back. They agreed so I unhooked the battery and watched them go to work. That weld pictured was the second one after the first had begun to disintegrate by Loretto. it has held to Guerrero Negro and I have my hope it will stay tight through the 200mi of desolate desert and remainder of trip to USA.

I've been posting with it but the battery is very low. I'll try to replace them tonight. Sorry about that.
