With the incoming system of rain, I was somewhat protected east of the Cascade mountains and continued on across the mighty Columbia River and up it's eastern shore. The landmark of Lincoln Rock prominently emerges from the river in a dammed lake portion below Orondo.
Fortunately, the weather cooled down significantly and the snakes weren't to be seen for the remainder of the week. Asparagus is in season up here so I made many potato and asparagus scrambles on the campfire drowned down with the last of my favorite Crazy Fox Ethiopian coffee. I finished reading Snow Falling on Cedars and started in on one of my favorites, McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses. Rain falls on my tarp for another relaxing day in Washington state. |
