Situated on Liberty Bay, Poulsbo has a 100+ year history as a Scandinavian bastion in the PCNW. Founded by a Norwegian immigrants in the 1880's, the town retained Norwegian as it's primary language up until WW-II. The buildings reflect this recent past with exposed beam on stucco exteriors, shuttered windows and Norse themed murals on building sides. Front St winds through the waterfront area offering restaurants, shops, coffee joints and an old-fashioned bakery. Sailboats bob on the dark rolling water as a light mist falls from low grey clouds. A biohazard needle disposal box in the restroom reminds me of the impact this climate and proximity to the orient can have.

Mike SaundersIn May 2014 I quit my job to ride a Honda Ruckus over 69'000 mi and counting. Wild camping most nights and cooking most of my own meals, I keep the costs low and the landscape changing. Archives
